Here’s the 4th studio album and follow-up to Sharon Jones and Dap-Kings 2007 release 100 Days, 100 Nights–as featured on Dark is the Night compilation. Saw them at the Safeway Waterfront Blues Fest last summer here in Portland, when (some) of you boys missed an awesome performance.

LOTW – Tanlines

Tanlines – Settings (2010)

Tanlines have been making some fun instrumental tracks for about a year now. They’re dancy, definitely of 2010 and, as the name would suggest, tropical (a little Balie Funk influence). For Settings, Tanlines have wisely added vocals to some tracks, making it very listenable the entire way through.

This album is a good complement to Caribou’s Swim. In fact, yesterday, I drove around town listening to Swim on the way and Settings on the way back. It made for a great ride.

THE PROBLEM IS THIS: TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN DRAMA AND NON-DRAMA. LET ME BREAK-IT-DOWN-NOW. Continue reading

And by “It,” I mean the jetpack. It’s ridiculously expensive and not that efficient, but the fact that I’ll probably get to use one sometime in my lifetime puts a shit-eating grin on my face. Make sure you watch the video.

Cary Grant: “He liked to take the trip”

“I learned many things in the quiet of that room … I learned that everything is or becomes its own opposite … You know, we are all unconsciously holding our anus. In one LSD dream … I imagined myself as a giant penis launching off from earth like a spaceship.” – Cary Grant

A ridiculous and amazing post on WFMU about how Cary Grant was one of the first proponents of LSD.
