ny-times-reader-1

You knew I’d love this.  It’s a cross between Outlook, an RSS reader and a physical newspaper.  The NY Times Reader is a digital front page.  It’s independent of any browser so it can be designed more like a front page.  Not only does this allow the Reader to look more like the print version, but it feels more like a newspaper too.  One of the things I like most about it is that there are less distractions than on a full blown internet.  I can actually sit down and straight up read, rather than want to follow links.

Other improvements include the ability to read while offline, and the complete lack of ads.

Even though it’s been out since 2007, there’s still a free beta version for Macs.
